Well THAT was embarrassing

Sana and I were recently invited to our Vietnamese friend’s home for lunch. She’s a sweet gal, always a smile on her face, we love her to death.

Well, we arrived to her apartment, and realized they don’t have a dining table. They sit cross-legged on a bamboo mat when they eat, and then fold up the mat and they’ve got that much more living space for the 22.5 hours or so per day they’re not eating.

Americans might learn a thing or two from these folks, right?

Well, I’m going on 45 years old, and I don’t often sit cross-legged. So I sat down and was kind of embarrassed when I grimaced in discomfort when I tried to cross my legs.

Our host was embarrassed too; they think any problem that occurs in or outside their home is theirs to fix. That’s just the way they’re wired.

But it was my fault. I’m the one who doesn’t engage in that very healthy practice of sitting cross-legged, while living in an Asian country I might add.

So I suffered through lunch – and then began the practice of sitting cross-legged for a couple minutes each morning. And isn’t it funny how you get better at something the more you do it? A few days later, it’s not as uncomfortable anymore. If anything, I kind of enjoy it. In fact, I’m sitting on the floor, cross-legged, in my office as I type this email.

It’s kind of a funny story, but it reminds me of the many folks I talk to who either want to start a podcast, or are just getting going and need a bit of guidance. It’s kind of painful to watch, but the more they do it, the better they get at it. The more clarity comes as to how to run it.

It’s why I started the Podcast Artistry™ service. To provide that clarity, to put in the reps with someone who knows what they’re doing looking over their shoulder. We’re doing a bit of marketing in the next few weeks, during which time I expect our services will be filled to capacity. And then I’m going to review some of the pricing structures and make some long overdue adjustments (in my favor obviously.)

If you want to check out what we’re up to, then go to this here link. If you want to talk business, then there’s a form to fill out there and we can talk more 🙂
